SC 557 Improvements

The SC 557 Improvements project is a York County Pennies for Progress project. The work consists of widening SC 557 in Lake Wylie from 2 lanes to 5 lanes for approximately 2.48 miles from west of Kingsbury Road to Harper Green Drive.

This project will reduce traffic congestion by increasing the roadway from 2 lanes to 5 lanes with center turn and left turn lanes and 2 new signalized intersections. The Ridge Road/SC 557 intersection will be realigned to a new location replacing the current intersection which has poor visibility.

This 2.48-mile project includes the construction of:

  • 1 new 3 span bridge over Crowders Creek.
  • 4,300 LF of 5 lanes on new alignment.
  • 30,900 SY of 12” Graded Aggregate Base Course.
  • 31,800 SY of Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC)
  • 44,450 Tons of Asphalt.
  • 4,650 SY of new concrete sidewalks.
  • 22,100 LF of new concrete curb and gutter.
  • 2 new signalized intersections.
  • 16,952 LF of storm drain & 140 new drainage inlets.
  • 9,190 LF of new waterline installation.
  • 3,175 LF of new sewer force main installation.
