Charlotte Douglas International Airport Elevated Roadway

Blythe Development Co was a partner in a fully integrated joint venture with Flatiron Constructors on this $42M project. This project was the first project in the CDIA planned terminal expansion. The function of the project was to create a two level facility which would allow for a fluid flow of traffic by separating the arrival and departure traffic. This construction required excavation, drainage, demolition, water line, retaining walls, drilled shaft foundations, precast concrete girders, asphalt paving and pavement marking. Also included in this project was the construction of two tunnels for future expansion to allow for pedestrian traffic to move from the parking deck & rental car facility to the terminal without crossing traffic.
